Just installed Eve

A question for people paying with time codes: how does it actually work out any cheaper?

Eve Time Codes and Shattered Crystal are selling 90 days for $39.85 and $38.85 respectively, which is the same price as a 3 month sub with CCP ($38.85).

Where's the saving?

some months have less than 30 days :)

Is that an agent mission, or have you found a 'logbook' after killing a belt/gate rat?

If it's a mission.. right click for the bookmark :p

Stupid game, just spent god knows how long flying round trying to find a broken ship in "perimeter", but its a pretty big place!
I give up
if its mission, you'll have a bookmark for the right location
if its just a "bring me xxx things from these rats" you'll have to go killing rats
whats your ingame name, I think I'm close to perimeter

Is there anything to compare this game to?

I'm quite interested in starting to play it, so seasone Eve players what's the appeal? :)
less kiddies than WOW
more PVP than anything else I've played
no-where is 100% safe.
the people.

Ok, thanks! Any downsides?

Does it still look as good as when it first came out, bearing in mind things have supposedly moved on since 2004?
its the same graphical as it as in 2004 (new graphics engine with DX10) but I think its dated well.
its not X3 but its good enough, and I'd say its more about the gamplay than the graphics.

another downside is you need to keep your clone up to date, death can be hard if you don't.

At the end of the day (cliche) the gameplay is what counts (i'm not graphics obsessed).

I think i'll give the free-trial a go! Cheers!

It can be a very harsh game for new comers, as long as you are careful and don't venture into 0.4 space or lower you'll be fine for the moment.

Find a good corp also :) May I suggest something like Agony Unleashed for PvP, you need to pay to go on a course with them though, otherwise the OcUK corp is a very good place to start and learn the game, and learn about ISK making through mining, missions or trading/manufacturing :)

See, you've lost me already!!! What's a corp?!?!

Sorry :) In Eve, like other MMO games there are groups of people who get together for a common cause. These groups of players can form their own "Corporations" which they name and gallop off to do whatever they want :)

There are probably many thousands of corporations in Eve, it is always best to join a corporation for the benefits they offer, security, knowledge, help, and free stuff :)

a corp is like a guild
just a group of players who have banded togeather, you start off in a "noob corp" with the new players and people who don't want to play in a player corp.
