just installed windows 10 on a samsung 850 evo ssd, then installed samsung software Magician, there is a tab for Over Provisioning, but when i select this i get a Note saying, using RAW partition may damage your data. OP can be set or cleared only for the last accessible partion, it shows i can set a 10% OP, but can this be set now after my windows OS has been put on this drive ? worried it may damage data, just like the Note warning says ? cheers
 
Did you get the warning thou, and where it shows where the 10% OP will be, it is overlayed on your primary partion aint it, bit worried myself :)
 
Yes I did get that message, infact if I look at the OP tab it still shows. Essentially all it's really doing is shrinking your primary partition and marking it as unallocated space which the controller can then use for housekeeping (such things as garbage collection/trim). In fact looking at my Disk Management console, I can see the unallocated space.

So you should be fine unless you have somehow used up all the space on your SSD already, in which case data loss would be possible.
