Just ordered a Silverstone TJ07!

Running a bit low on cash, the 120.2 has eased that a bit over the 120.3 but I am still wondering if skimping on the fans will bite me in the ass later. I have looked at some XinRuilian 120mm 0.18A Fans, they push 65CFM at 30dba, which to me sounds pretty good and there only £5..I was going to get a couple of Scythe S-FLEX 1600RPM which pump out the same CFM all be it 2dba quieter but then there £10 more each, is it really worth it? From lookin at the pics I will mount it at the bottom of the case, with the fans pulling air into the case, I have heard theres not much point doing a push/pull setup thoigh with the PA series as it wont really helpat all, will get a better idea when the case comes I reckon.

I have no idea on fans at all :p However gaining 2db is prob not worth the money. You may well find that you can run the fans slower so will get them quieter than that anyway. I have heard good things about Panaflo fans, you will have to google to find them.

There is a model with the window on the silverstone website but there is no window for the TJ07 in there accessories section which is kinda weird since they have them for all the others.

They've only recently been added to the Silverstone website so that's why you can't get one yet. I agree it'wierd, I don't know why they didn't sell them with windows from the start. I got mine custom made by a waterjet cutting company. If you're doing water cooling IMO you've got to have a side window, gotta show it off with all the money invested :D

I'm still mulling over whether to go watercooled. I spotted this case a while back and to me it looks the perfect case for it (probably a bit large for me though as I'd have to cut my desks drawer off :)). I've noticed that the top end cases now seem to go for this compartmentalised construction (like the V1000, etc).

If they brought out a version with a door it may just sway me. I've always preferred the clean lines of a plain door.

A couple of questions:

1) In reviews the spacing of the top two 120mm fans looks a little spread out. So presumably a 120.2 rad would still need adapting to mount it? What about the lower rad, would this fit a 120.2 without modification?

2) Would two 120.2 rads (one in the top and one in the bottom), be better performing than a single 120.3? Although that may sound obvious, I've never watercooled before and I'm assuming there is some kind of loss by having two rads.

3) Colour. And no I'm not trying to start a flame war. I think some cases look better in silver and some in black. But what are the opinions for this case only?

4) Window or no window if watercooled? I'm guessing most will say windowed but again I'm not yet quite convinced.

Like I said, I measured up this case for a rad on the roof and I SERIOUSLY doubt you would get a pa120.2 PLUS fans on there without smacking into your motherboard.

Bear in mind a pa series rad is about 2" thick, add another 1" for the fans and then take a look at the pic above.. it doesn't fit.

You could choose a thinner rad but that would render pointless the roof mount, you may as well go with a pa120.2 in the floor cavity behind the psu.

IF you could get 2 rads in there would possibly be a tiny benefit, frankly unless you're dumping 2 gfx cards, cpu and northbridge there is probably only a 1 or 2c difference between a single 120.2 and a 120.3 so the difference between 2 120.2s and a 120.3 would be miniscule.. There is only so much heat a rad can dissipate when you take into account ambient temps.

It comes in black or silver

Window.. obviously, if you're watercooling you want to do it properly and you want everyone to know it ;)

Well I finally got everything I needed only to find out that my old PA120.1 barbs do not fit the 120.2..should have some tommorow! I am still trying to find the best setup for this case, the rad will have to go a at the bottom, like matt100 said there is no way you can mount fans and rad at the top!

The setup I tried was like this:

Pump > block > Rad > T-line > pump

So basically the t-line is just before the pump inlet. However I had doo many air pockets just sitting there not moving through the system, is this due to where I placed the t-line or should I just take longer priming the system to get all the air out? I think I stopped a bit early as the air pockets wouldnt move, I might force them round by squeesing them. I was using my 120.1 but I have drained the system and will wait for my barbs to arrive and try again!

The rad is just held in place by sum sticky pads, the case isnt exactly portable and wont be moving much and so the pads should suffice to keep it in place, there are some holes in the bottom of the case where the hdd cages were however the positiong of my rad does not line up with these and so are no good for me.

Yeah I ended up drilling my own holes in the bottom, then created my own screw threads. Made a few brackets from square aluminium from B&Q, bit of black paint and jobs a good un :D It's not going anywhere!

This seems to be a bit of a missed opportunity to me, not just for the TJ07 but for quite a few similar cases. The layout is ideal for watercooling. Yet even in something almost perfect like the TJ07, you stil have to mod it in some way. If Silverstone had thought about it a bit more then they may have come up with a way of mounting the hdd cages so they could be replaced with a 120.2 rad without modification.

Just placed an order for the case, feel a bit sick now, £200..why couldnt I have a cheaper hobby!

I wouldn't worry. All Silverstone cases are very well made and stylish. If you spend £200 then you get something that looks like £300.

The thing that worries me about this case is the mesh held in by tabs. Surely that should be screwed in? Is it done that way for a reason or just to save costs?

Ok system is all Installed and evrything is up and running, idle temps are 40c still a tad high but nvm havent tested load yet. Mother board temps have dropped a lot though, down to 30 odd was in mid 40's before. Hoever theres 1 big problem...I cant get the side panels back on the case! Has anyone else got issues with this? they slide on 80-90 % then get stuck and I cant bend any of the tabs that go into the slots to make it fit right! I knew they would cause issues because you have to be He-Man to take them off in the first place! Overall good case but not worth £220 I would say £100-£150 max.
