I have just placed an order for a Nikon D50, Nikkor 50mm prime 1.8 and a Sandisk 1GB ULTRA II SD Card :) should all arrive tomorrow morning.

I wasn't sure if I should go for the kit lens?? but decided in the end I would go for the prime and then in a couple of months get somthing like the Nikkor 20mm prime.

really looking forward to getting this...I might go to bed now so tomorrow comes quicker :D Just like christmas!

any suggestions on bags that would be good for this camera?? nothing to big but big enough.....if that makes sense.

Regards

Congrats on the D50. I have one myself (with kit lens and Sigma 70-300mm) and its a great camera for starting out.

As for bags, I bagged (pun intended) one at a well known high street camera store. It was a Kamala bag for £40. It does me fine although if I get a flash gun I'll need another bigger bag.

Congrats again and I expect photos when it arrives :)

Well I'm buying a Flashgun tomorrow so had to go and buy a little small bag just for the flash the one I mentioned doesn't have enough room for my camera, two lens and flash.

Dunno what flash you're getting, Blackvault, but I would have assumed it to be the SB-600 - which comes with a bag.

Yeah I am getting a SB-600. Didn't know that it came with a bag :( Just spent £7.49 on a bag that I may not need. Aww well.

That's what it looks like. It's nicely padded, has a beltstrap & a little pouch for the flash stand.

May be worth returning the second bag?

Looks nice. Is that your flash? What do you think of the flash any sample images of yours available? If so what Nikon Camera body do you use?

I might just keep the new bag as its only £7.49 plus it may come in handy. Dunno what I'll use it for though.

Aye that's my flash. It's very handy as fill in, and remote flash is very useful sometimes. I use a D70 - unfortunately the D50 doesn't support wireless flash out of the box.

I don't really have any samples to hand ~ Will have a wee dig though.

edit : A couple of dodgy self portraits, some fern macros & some moo moos.

The EXIF lies when it's off-camera, which was for all of those. it works very well on-cam, too - especially bounced, I just tend to use it remotely.

We should have a Nikon D50 club. I made that userban D50 if anyone wants it then just copy the image location and by all means use it for their sig

Well just got home and it has arrived :) got the battery on charge as I speak.

off to have a read of the manual now will post thoughts on camera and some images tomorrow.

Nope deff not dust, and deff not the LCD, it was deffo the CCD. Two Solid Green pixels right next to each other. Stuck out like a soar thumb. :( Should be getting it back soon though, and it better work!

My good friend here at uni is on his 4th D50 because of these. He is really not happy. Thing is though, the camera is a really good piece of kit, i think we are just unlucky :(

Unlucky mate. You and your mate much have a bad batch or something because I don't have that problem although I'll keep my eye open for any green pixels on my CCD.
