Just ordered this:

Most people I see complaining about the 970 VRAM issue don't even own a 970. I do, and it's stonkingly fast and cool at 1080p without issue. Maybe at higher resolutions it struggles, but I've never experienced it when using DSR unless I go north of 1440p which isn't viable on a single card anyway. Single 970 at 1080p is a sweet spot without spending loads.

@op you will probably find the card is a return due to slight coil whine at 1,000,000 fps. Enjoy your new card :)

Also just noticed you have a pretty similar spec to me so just to put you at ease, everything will be great. Mines was a replacement for 2 7950's and I've been amazed with it.

Well said heisernberg. Jesus people let the man enjoy his new card without trying to find faults.

Not noticed an issue with GTX 970 VRAM, tried both the GTX 970 and R9 290 and there's not much difference other than a very slight performance gain with the Nvidia card.

That's the funny thing, you had a few that returned them earlier on, rightfully so as it could have been a big issue.... as it turns out, it's not.

I know 6 people personally who have them (I'm on 780 sli) and not a single one has had an issue.

Some people like to moan and make a bigger deal out of things than necessary I guess.

Enjoy your card, it's a solid purchase.

I'm not saying that. The 970's unique VRAM configuration is obviously a point to consider when purchasing a video card to suit your needs.

Comments like "includes the full advertised VRAM" are not particularly helpful, though, and just smack of point scoring.

uniquely *******ised yeah. Its something that should be pointed out as you say. What I said is much more helpful than what you said about dropping the issue.
