ive just overclocked using the autotuning on AI suite.
can anyone please explain what the figures mean as its totally gone over my head? the only thing i know is that my pc is till very cool and guidline voltages are all under.
this,
also what is the cpu? i am guessing its a SB chip/
idle temps mean nothing, its load temps that we need,
use coretemp or realtemp to check the temps.
download Intel burn test and run it for 10 passes.
you are governed by the max temp.
once you know the basics, boot into bios, and do it yourself, you can usually get a higher speed this way.
If I'm reading it correctly I think you've messed up.
The BCLK should be 100MHz and you've reduced it to the minimum.
If I'm right your CPU is running at 4.2% of its stock speed (and your RAM and everything linked to the BCLK) unless you've altered the multiplier as well.
Leave the BCLK at 100MHz and overclock using the CPU multiplier.
I didnt change it? i just tried to change it but when i apply changes it just reverts back to 2.4?? i also ran a load test and all cores are maxin at 98c?
Firstly, are you using the stock cooler? your temps are incredibly high, for that matter so is your vcore (presuming its auto/manual fixed and not offset going by the VID).
Secondly change the stress level on IBT to high at the very least (once you get the cooling sorted).
im using a katana 3. its seems to be fitted ok as its idle sits in the 30's. whats the easiest way to reset the oc? i think i need to do this manually instead of using that auto system?
I would say either the katana 3 isn't upto the job at all or its not seated correctly, I'm leaning towards the latter, stock coolers won't usually hit that high at 4ghz.
Just tell AI Suite to reset to OS defaults, save and close. I would run some stress tests at stock first and sort out that temp issue.
Edit: I just noticed coretemp shows temps in the high 80s low 90's while AI suite is showing a package temp of just 65, try another temp monitoring program like CPUID HW Monitor and see what that shows?
