just overclocked!!

Of water.

The boiling point of Silicon is a lot higher ;)

I meant water :). That does sound kind of cool but scary though...

Topic Title: I just melted my new Intel i7 processor, was getting temps of around 300C running 5Ghz. Was stable until the roof fell in and the gas pipe reached the flames.

Hahaha :)

Temps look allot better, get cpuz and show us a screen of that under load so we can see the vcore and not the vid, temps do look about average for a £20 cooler though. If we can get that vcore down your temps will follow. Also what motherboard are you using?

Have the same board and chip, what speed are you aiming foe? May be able to give you some pointers. Is the htpc case required? As that's going to limit what you can hit.

Im not looking to get massive figures if im honest. I just wanted to maximise what the cpu is capable of at safe levels. i rarely use it hard unless its for encoding which isnt everyday.

So around 4.4ghz should be well within range, start reading up on offset voltages and learn to find your way around the BIOS.
