Just punctured my freezer...

You are ok with regards to the cyclopentane, it replaced a lot of the enviromentally damaging CFC-11 and HCFC-141. It might be a very simple fix to repair but the cost will be in the re-gasing of your appliance as I believe that isnt cheap. I would just tell the landlord and pleed ignorance. You will probably not have long becuase the gas that excaped was the the refrigerant and eventually the compressor wont have any gas left to pump around and it will just defrost. If you leave the door shut you might get away with 24 hours or so but i would recommend getting on to the landlord right away. Your fridge might be on a different loop and so potentially could be undamaged but keep an eye on it, it will rise in temp quite quickly if broken, faster than the frezzer for example.

You now have the perfect excuse to buy one of these:

If it's older than 2000, they were packed full of asbestos, illegal immigrants, Spanish cucumbers, people who are not a shops and pancakes. There's not much you can do except flee the area.

Recent news has cleared the cucumbers of being dangerous, but it's since been discovered the immigrants have aids.... so it kind of balances out..

Get a frost free model, never need to be defrosted again.:D

lies sometime the hole the drops of water go down to be evaporated on the metal plate thing can get frozen over if some tard leaves the freezer door open often enough when they are getting food out to put in the oven.

which results in you needing to switch off the freezer long enough for the frozen pipe to defrost

A new fridge / freezer would be in order, cost to have it repaired would not be economical and trying to braze over the hole would probably end up melting half of the freezer!

The site were I worked one of the engineers was drilling some new holes for the metal cover over the condenser of a cooling plant for one of there machine and drilled a hole through one of the cooper u bends!
Managed to get it repaired running the next day.
