Just bought an external maxtor 300GB hard drive from the ocuk clearance section, this one here...

Maxtor_OneTouch.jpg

From searching through google, I found that the box should contain the following:

Box Contents:
# External hard drive
# USB cable 6 to 6 pin FireWire/1394/i.LINK cable External AC power adaptor
# Vertical stand
# Installation software CD
# Dantz Restrospect Express HD
# Maxtor OneTouch drivers
# Maxtor OneTouch utilities
# User's guide

However, the only thing I got in the box was the actual hard drive unit and the AC power adapter. I dont even know how im suppose to connect the hard drive to my pc, there is no usb cable to be found. What should I do? :/

Was it clearance or B-Grade?

If it is the latter then you should not expect to get everything... However if it was just a clearance item then you should get everything as if it was full price... Have you tried calling/emailing OcUK and asking?

If youre connecting by usb i should imagine the cables just like the one you use to connect your printer so any usb a-b cable should work.

Well I dont have any of them cables but I should be able to borrow one just to test out.

From your sig I notice you also have external hard drives, in particular maxtor ones, do I need to install any software or drivers aswel mate?

No drivers needed mate, just plug them in and away you go.

I've got a One Touch, and you dont need the software for the drive to be recognised, but you do if you want to use the One Touch features.

Mines connected via firewire rather than usb, as the transfer rate is marginally better, with less cpu overhead. As said, for usb its a standard A-B cable, same as printers use.
