So why is it you care now, exactly?

Same reason you do, probably.

Ok, im sorry.

There there, never mind, buy another one.

is that more constructive? What else are we supposed to say? There isn't much which CAN be said either way, there is NOTHING constructive anyone can add, becuase 'never mind mate' is hardly construcive either, is it?

This thread should now serve as a big reason why you don't rush out at 18, spend £13k you dont have on a car you can't afford to insure properly. If it doesnt then his mistakes will never be learnt from.

I think it would be a good idea to drive less agresively perhaps, but to be fair that could have happened in any car. It's just a shame you happened to crash in one that was quite so expensive to fix. Think of it as a learning experience, at least next time you might not panic brake:).

If there's nothing more constructive to be said then why do you bother to reply? Apparently you have too much free time on your hands or simply nothing better to do than repeat what has been said... And still manage to be a **** about it :)

My MR2 Turbo is thirs party fire and theft and i really fear the whole time of lossing my 2.4k if i stacked it.

13k car on this type of insurance though. Christ on a stick....were you on drugs.

Actually its weird how someone can pay out right 13-14k for a car and not afford fully comp insurance ? probly been done earlier in the thread though.

He's my best mate...

Explains the support ;)

...Aside from making yourself feel good, what point is there in posting the likes of what you have to say?

I don't know, I guess it feels a bit better after having him insist our opinions were worthless back when he bought it...

I'm glad he wasn't hurt, really I am, but I hope he thinks long and hard before making silly decisions in the future and I hope anyone who reads this thread learns from his mistakes rather than just says 'oh it was the lack of ABS tbh' and does the same thing again..

See that's a perfectly reasonable post, but I never blamed the lack of ABS, though I may have been OK had I had ABS (this is not the same as blaming a lack of it, I hope you appreciate the subtle difference :))

My commiserations...

To drive home the fact that he acted like an idiot by buying a car that he couldn't afford and getting inadequate insurance because he couldn't afford it against the advice of many, MANY people who warned him that a crash would leave him financially crippled....

And lo and behold! He prangs it!

Did he insist your opinions were worthless or just 'duly note' them? :D

Fact of the matter is, he's selling the Lotus and going for something a bit different so lesson learned there (until you find out what he's going for next :p)

There have been a number of non experience / sensibility related problems with the thing as well and it was discovered recently (ironically due to the crash) that it may have already been in a potential serious accident prior to him owning it... Not good.

Which would have been spotted if he'd had the car properly inspected before purchase, as a few of us suggested, for the sake of £80.

As you say though, you live and learn.

Actually I did pay however much it was to get an RAC check done on the car.. (turns out it was fairly worthless)

So before you make wild accusations please check the facts :)

It's not a wild accusation. I remember that I (and a couple of other Elise owners here) advised you, before you did it, that the RAC checks were worthless on these cars and to have it checked over at a specialist, for a fraction of the price.

Sorry to hear about the HGF though.

buy a car that you can control, learn how to drive then maybe in a few years buy a car akin to an elise, as I said ages ago if you want to buy a fast car and kill yourself thats your lookout , but my family drive on the same roads as you so do yourself a favour and learn to walk before you can run.

In a way I'm glad you crashed - you learnt a lesson in economics, in years to come you will look back and realise why we all criticised you for your choice of car and method of insuring it.

There is a very good reason it costs me £700 to insure an elise fully comp and it costs you thousands to barely insure it third party only, now you have found out the hard way I hope you enjoy your toyota and work your way up the ranks to similar car in years to come but for now be sensible and buy a car befitting your age/experience.

Sorry for sounding moody but I told you this would happen 10 pages ago, if you had bother to listen you would have saved yourself a lot of money
