Just put my name down for one of these:-

What a lot of people don't realise is that there's nothing wrong with a Live Axle....As long as it is properly located.

Gibbo - What's the axle location on t'Mustang?

was reading about these in TG magazine. i think they're a simply awesome looking car, great choice Gibbo.

Aint got a clue but it works fine.

EVO Magazine took a STD Mustang around their test track (Bedford Autodrome) and an EVO 260 on the same day. The Mustang was quicker and remember that was the stock 300BHP with soft un-tuned suspension setup.

They also took the Roush 420RE round the track which has same/similar suspension setup to my own and approx 30-40BHP more as it has 420BHP. That lapped quicker than a Porsche Boxter S, Porsche Carrera 997, Porsche Cayman S, Lotus Elise 111R, Merc SLK55 AMG, BMW M3 CS, BMW M5, Merc SL600, Marcos GT2 etc. etc.

Lap times were:-
Mustang (Roush) - 1.28.50
Porsche Boxter S - 1.28.55
Porsche Carrera 997 - 1.28.85
Porsche Cayman S - 1.28.90
Lotus Elise 111R - 1.29.20
Merc SLK55 AMG - 1.29.30
BMW M3 CS - 1.29.80
BMW M5 V10 - 1.29.95
Merc SL600 - 1.29.95
Mustang (STD) - 1.30.55
Mitsi EVO 260 - 1.31.05

So cleary the live axle on the Mustang does not hinder its abilities too much, its basic setup that plainly works well. :)

Pity that (at the moment....) they have said 'no' to fitting the 392ci Hemi (6.4l, 500hp).

That said, the engine is available as a crate motor.....:D

I dont think I could ever place an order for a car I'd not even seen let alone driven unless:

a) It was from a manufacturer with a solid record - ie, I drove an M3 and ordered the new model M3
b) Unless it was purely for profit - ie, you KNOW the latest Aston will be good AND be worth loads more than list.

This appears to be neither - it's a throwback to the past from a manufacturer with a dubious reputation which may or may not suck. Sure, it might be awesome, but do you really want to find out that actually it isnt when you take delivery?

wouldn't they have a demonstrator well before delivery begins? And if you don't like it either sell your place on the waiting list or cancel your order?

Fox, it's a muscle car. Unless it's horrendously slow in a straight line, it's not going to suck. ;)

but its really cool, and you know the engine will be good, you also dont expect it to handle in any way, so no surprises! lol

I would be going in a demo first though!

Porsche Boxter S beat all them cars?

Yup its not all about straight line power. The Boxter S is quoted by some as the best handling Porsche to ever come out, it really is a great drivers car. :)
So on a twisty track it comes out on top, but if more straights involved then it loses out.

Its a Muscle car and I will love it, every time I get into the Mustang I love the sound and the driving pleasure, I've never driven a car that made me grin so much. The Dodge will not dissapoint me and of course I will be taking out a demonstrator before I take delivery anyway. :)

Awesome, im glad the american car market finally has something exciting. The 80's and 90's was terrible all bar a couple of exceptions.

I like it in the colour as in the pictures but will also be checking out black too. :)

Is there any black ones floating around the interweb that you can post up?

The SL600 is as fast as the M5! Wow I would have thought the super duper v10 m5 known for its awesome handling would have beaten a lazy heavy merc!

hate to say it but I actually like the look of these (being a long term anti american car type of guy) but you just gotta have it stickered up like the general lee, only if its just for a few months (becuase everyone will prolly do the same as more come into the country)
