Some woman has been let off from wearing a tag because it means she cant wear skirts when she goes out in fear of being branded a criminal.

she was caught copying dvd sleeves or summin and was charged etc. yet she isnt being tagged due to this...

how ridiculous is that!

Erm she is a criminal.... or have i missed something?

TBH im not surprised by anything these days.... maybe i can rob a bank and not get put in prison because "other people might think im a criminal... and its against my human rights to be detained agaist my will"

There was a thread/ keyboard warrior thread about this a while back.

I think the (mockery of a) court agreed that her rights were infringed upon having to wear an ankle tag because she wore short skirts.

The girl didn't feel this to be fashionable and now doesn't have to wear it.

Maybe it needs a Burberry print on it? Or maybe some fake fur?

Not sure how to make a non keyboard warrior response to this tbh and I'm sposed to be a liberal!

Hmmm ...
"I can't pay a fine, people might think I'm a criminal."
"I can't do Community Service, people might think I'm a criminal."
"I can't go to prison, people might think I'm a criminal."

Note to self: next time I'm doing a bank job, sod the stockings - I'll wear a short skirt! :D

The judgment seems reasonable to me. I think that having to wear such a tag would humiliate her and that's not what they're designed to do. The judge is allowed to take into account the defendant's individual circumstances when pronouncing most sentences and that's what this one did.

There should be some other kind of provision in place for her though. E.g., she could wear the tag somewhere else where it would not be visible when she went out.

Im guessing when she goes out she dresses in a provocative way.......so where do you think she could hide it?

I know of only one place..........

:o

I see your point though. Perhaps the court could arrange some alternative form of sanction on her then. Considering she was only "copying DVD sleeves" she's hardly a danger to the public anyway.

Mass paper cut homicides.

Having a tag for copying DVD sleeves seems a bit harsh unless I'm not hearing the whole story.

Still, if everyone else is made to wear it I'd cover it in glitter so it lookes like bling - then slap it on her.

Girlie tags - I believe it is the way forward. ;)

but......she is a criminal.

Not all criminals are the same and deserve to be treated differently. I don't think a copyright infringer and a mugger should be given the same punishment by the courts, for example.

How many people here speed on the roads or have pirated software?
