just read an article that said xbox 360 better than top end pc!

we are talking about a console and pc.... that's like saying which is better a washing machine or a tumble drier... cos they cover a similar area.

The graphics are good on the xbox, but by the time a good game comes out on it the pc will be way ahaead, when I brought my PS2 it had better graphics and now look at it compared to a pc… that’s the problem

A TOP end pc would easily outperform the 360 imo. Dell are already shiping quad SLI pcs, which gives the pc much more graphics processing power than the 360. Couple that with 2gb of fast memory and a highly clocked fx60 or opteron 165/170 you will easily match the 360 for speed. Dont forget the 360 cpu although being triple core is effectively a budget chip so has less cache etc.

I would say it's better than the average PC, but not better than a top end PC.

It's a lot better than an average PC. It's performance is on par with a top-end PC. Call of Duty 2 for example, doesn't look as good (just) as a top of the range PC, but it runs a lot better on the Xbox360. But the power for Xbox360 is that the games are coded for none changing hardware.

Depends what you class as a top end PC. When i think top end im thinking SLi with an FX60ish CPU attatched to a monitor capable of a stupidly impressive resolution.

The 360 is an OK machine and is better than an average machine, but a top end machine, no way.

My mate has an Xbox360 and an X2 4400, 4gb RAM, ASUS A8N-Sli Premium and a 7800GTX and the Xbox360 is more powerful than that, is that 'average' ?

A lot's down to game coding.

Ok now your just being picky :p

Youve also got the argument that keyboard/mouse > controller. Personally i hate controllers for FPS games.

I, to a point, agree. Mouse and Keyboard are a good controller, especially for playing games at a high level (I played 1.6 semi-pro and I play/ed CSS at a very high level) but I just completed Call of Duty 2 on the Xbox360 and I can, hand on heart say I had so much more enjoyment on the Xbox360 than I did on the PC (and I completed it on Veteran). Halo was also more enjoyable with a controller.

Games done well with a controller are just as much fun, but you CANNOT play them to a high level like with a mouse and keyboard, but as a single player it is no worse (if done right).

It's down to the game, not the controller. Perfect Dark Zero with a Joypad is better than Devastation with a Mouse and Keyboard.

Yes i will agree with you on that. I used to play FPSs on my PS2 and found some enjoyable and other not. I found the medal of honours very twitchy, but red faction was spot on.

On the subject of controllers... Keyboard/mouse Vs Joypad,

I played CoD2 and thought it was to easy, as soon as an enemy popped out BOOM HEADSHOT! I could see why some FPS games would be more fun witha joypad, if your just relaxing and have a little blast before you go out or whatever then console would be my choice. It would be acase of omg theres loads of them fire fire fire!!! and not Theres loads of enemys over there, headshot x10.

But for online gaming, keyboard and mouse rule the arena.

I personally feel that the 360 isn't as powerful as the best pcs out at the moment but the quality of games will be higher.

I have COD2 both on my 360 and on my pc and it does look better on my pc. The 360 version is only running 2X aa compared the 4x on my pc. The resolution is lower on the 360 and finally the 360 doesn't look like its running any AF.

But the game plays the same and looks pretty much the same and thats what is important to me. A good alround game.

I think it comes down more to choice than anything. I enjoy being able to put the disc in the 360 and not having to worry about stutters or whether it will even run without some sort of update etc.
But at the same time I enjoy putting on COD2 on my pc and maxing out all of the settings.
