just returned from occupylsx

You're still missing the point, it's not that everyone should be equal, it's that our economic and political system has been distorted to disproportionately benefit those at the top.

Right so that is the problem.

What is your suggestion to solve it?

Good luck resolving that. Don't forget that even our political system is driven by market forces, i.e. what the voters want. The fact that it's almost always been this way, should tell you that this is what works best.

Is this some new kind of troll?

If not, can we ban people for being a hippie?

yes ?

and while we are at it can you add the following to the ban list

Moon Maidens
Whale Kissers
Tree Huggers
Guardian Readers
Stockhausen - because he meets all of the above :) (allegedly)
Franco22 - self explanatory

:)

Well no stockhausen may seem like a tree hugger and a liberal left wing person, he isn't by any means a troll, just passionate about politics.

However Franco22, well that's a different story ;)

Had a shower yet? washed the hippy smell away?

IMO all all a bunch of dossers, anyone who actually thinks a little camp like that will bring about change is deluded.

This thread is now non relative im tripping ballz where will i end up next i suspect somewhere else

I know but you can't have a ban post without giving stockhausen special mention :P

b) You imply that if you have a crap school, a crap family, have a negative socio-economic class and grow up around depressed people that its impossible to better yourself. This is obviously complete rubbish - there are many, many people have made a success and live happy lives despite having troubled childhood. It makes it difficult but it doesn't make it impossible.

.

it is far from impossible

myself, my brother and sister are from parents with manual jobs, bought up in a council house surrounded by many undesireables and educated in standard state schools, none of us went to university

my brother is president of the national plasterers/dry lining federation, director of several companies and earns a few bob ;)

While I may not be the richest bloke on these forums I think I have done reasonably well

My sister is manager of a travel agents, while not the best job in the world still earns 30k a year which is a lot for a woman around here

so how did we all do well ? nothing more than hard work tbh, there are very few people that cannot make something of themselves if they are determined and hard working

Some of my colleagues went and spoke to some of the protesters, mostly just to troll for the lol, but also to find out exactly what it is they are protesting against.

They (my colleagues) discovered the following points:

  • From those they spoke to (quite a number, they assure me), the number of protesters who are complete Starbucks-supping, iPad-tweeting hypocrites were not as high as one might expect.
  • They are not, in the strictest sense, anti-capitalist - they are anti-"the current system that got us into this mess and the perceived immoral accumulation of wealth by a select few".
  • Many actually fully support a capitalist system, providing it is a fair system and not corrupt.

As for what I think, I don't give a jot of care. However I will say I think it is very wrong to just dismiss a protest just because they don't have a solution. The protest, it seems, is not seeking a particular solution - they want to bring attention to the/a problem that they think has gone unnoticed/ignored. That is an entirely valid cause tbh.
