Ok...

Im one of these lazy people who can not been bothered to build there own pc... which in all honesty i should... so i set out looking for a new pc... to buy and play the same day that was differnt from the normal computer ofcourse... so i stumbled apon the Acer Predator Sniper in a certain shop... Which was up for £1400 but was down to £800... if people are unaware of the specs they are ...

Intel® Core 2 Quad Q9550
(2.80GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 12MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
4GB DDR2 memory
2x 640GB SATA hard drives
512MB NVIDIA® GeForce 9600GT graphics x 2
Blu-Ray Player and DVD Rewriter
Media card reader
USB ports

Full specification

Processor Type Intel. Core 2 Quad Q9550
Processor speed 2800
RAM Memory 4096 MB
Hard Disk Capacity 1280 GB
Drives Fitted Blu-Ray player and DVD Rewriter
Graphics Memory 512 MB
Graphics Description NVIDIA. GeForce 9600GT

I wouldnt not have spent £1400 on this no way...But for 800 to me it seemed pretty good but i would like your views on the spec and tell me if you think they go with the cost of it.....as i am taking my current one back to replace with another as there is a slight fault/ me being fussy with this one... so can get a refund :)

Thanks in advance

T

Seems like a lot of money for a C2 quad with 9600GT when you can have a 3.4GHz 920 with 6GB of triple channel RAM :

"Titan Goliath"

Key Components

:- Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz Overclocked to 3.40GHz!
:- Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
:- Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel
:- Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant PSU
:- Gforce 250 1024MB

Add £34 for a 5770 plus £69 for Win 7 Home

I know where my money would go.

You can get an i5/i7 cheaper than a Q9550, it's a shame OcUk got rid of the custom build tool.

Way too much for somewhat outadated bits. Have a look at OcUK's prebuilts if you don't want to get your hands dirty. Some are MUCH better value for money. Take it back! ;)

Ok this is going to sound really stupid i know...but for that past 6 years i have only ever had SLI which i love....Whats the graphics card like in this goliath that it comes with it...cos will be hard to tear me away from SLI...

And all be it that goliath does seem better....but it would as after you add the OS and the upgraded GC if you go for it'a £200 more then the one i listed... so its kinda in a differnt price bracket...and that little more then i can afford....but ofcourse i dont want to be ripped off with the one i bought... how old exactly are the compnents in the one i listed... i dont want to be buying something im buying new but its old technology...

Thanks

That Acer predator is not worth anywhere near it's asking price, £1400 is completely unjustified and even £800 makes me laugh. OcUK prebuilts are the way to go for you, have a look through all the options - most of the cheaper builds would even beat it!

Seems i need to take this back while i can.... on 3dmark06 this got about 14k score any idea what the goliath would hit?

sli sometimes is a waste of money if you where gonna be happy with 2 9600gt you would be more than happy with 1 gtx250 as i think it performs better, this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-223-OK&groupid=43&catid=1444&subcat=system is better then the system you linked in the same price bracket but seriously you don't need sli, and find some more money because the i7 system is worth the extra!

Looks like this is going back and im going for the goliath...Think with this predator i got it was the case that just made me want it haha its pretty imense...but with old technology.. the case can stay looking nice!!

So with the goliath whats the best GC for me,,,, im not a MASSIVE gamer but i do play a few games so i dont need nothing immense just something nice that will run most games on high....and OS would need 64bit? (sorry for sounding stupid)

Also for the price of around £1000 which it will come too...Can you build your own with components which are better then the goliath?

Thanks again
