Brilliant, im on PAYG atm and have been downloading a 3 GB file,

on our talk talk line this would be at 10-20KBps as they throttle us and the line is dodgey so it times out all the time, [took me an hour to do a bank transfer today]

On 3 with poor reception i am getting a constant 300KBps, i know to a lot that isnt fast but for me it will allow me to stream F1, 1080P youtube and actually download a GFX driver in minutes rather than days.

Its a poor show when your mobile internet is at least 100X faster than your land line!

a lot of people seem to be doing this.

Make sure you check your tariff so that your not stunned by massive data usage bills :)

atm i am on PAYG [testing it out, no way i can go over any limits, but ts and cs say it really is unlimited]but i think i am going to preorder the GS3 on the one plan and then sell either my galaxy nexus or that to cover the cost, its quite a hefty contract, but seeing as you have a phone contract and landline internet usually [abut £40 a month combined] i may as well just have the one plan.

Shame on you talk talk! throttling is ok if you have a fast connection but not out here in the sticks!

I just feel really lucky that i can get 3 H signal. not far don the road i cant!

Edit
i have to say i am a little bit flabbergasted, consistently above 400-500KBps now i have never had that speed at home!

I like your plan, I've heard that on payg your speed is capped but that it's not on one plan, which is I believe your aim with an S3, so you might get a pleasent surprise data wise.

What's the latency and packet loss like with this? If you go to http://pingtest.net you'll be able to find out; I can imagine it won't be as good as a 'normal' connection, but I suppose it's much better than having speeds of 10-20KBps.

ill check that in the morning, i am at present downloading a 3GB file from microsoft as i havent been able to do it on landline

that would be amazing, but tbh i am quite happy if i have a consistent 1megabit+ connection form now on!

I've been doing this for years. It just made sense to combine things into one bill as it worked out cheaper than paying a landline rental. I switched to three from tmobile over a year ago, to the one plan and have consistently had broadband class speeds of over 3Gb/s and over 5Gb/s but recently it has slowed to around 1Gb/s. I only had 500Mb/s landline broadband when I had that, plus you have added benefit of the data allowance being shared with your mobile, plus access to tethering everywhere, whilst travelling with a laptop, on vacation etc. I am considering going back to landline though but not until after I move home.

That's amazing speed!

I didn't even think about the line rental saving, get rid of that too and it covers the one plan cost completely! Thanks!

Sure was, same or better than what my parents achieve at their place on conventional broadband. Not too happy with the drop off of speeds though, not sure if they're now throttling it, will have to call 'em when I think of it in the week.

Performedf at the same time to the same server

Sorry, did make a mistake, I meant 3 to 5 Mb/s originally on the one plan compared to 500Kb/s on legacy landline broadband. Just used the speedtest android app and getting 2Mb/s download today.

Connect to test socket and post router stats. It looks like you have a line fault/issue with internal wiring.

That is why it keeps disconnecting, but not why the speed is slow, it is in the test socket

No its definitely throttling the speed, used to happen before all the disconnecting issues, besides no need to get it fixed now, not going to be using it. The unthrottled speed is slower than 3

Throttling? Seriosly look at the speed test and ping times, ISPs won't throttle down to that, not even talk-talk, if they are then wtf. I would be checking to see if Something is wrong on the line be it internal wiring, master socket or somewhere back to exchange
