Just switched from Firefox to Chrome!

I dislike Chrome for reasons mentioned above and was a hardcore Firefox user. But at the moment I'm actually using Opera and I quite like it :) I found that with Firefox I installed too much crap and became reliant on it, with Opera it's very minimal and therefore much faster.

So playing around with Chrome more with Flash content and noticed a few things.

Noticed when I fullscreen Flash content, the statusbar at the bottom appears and doesn't go away. I also have noticed the sound seems a lot quieter as well. Going into the Chrome plugins page, and then disabling the internal Flash so it uses the more up to date Flash I have installed solves both problems.

Just noticed Firefox 36 is expected to go multi-process which may fix the little niggles I've had with it recently, which makes it more tempting to move back...

One thing I've noticed is that various extensions (particularly AdBlock Plus) slowed both Firefox and Chrome down noticeably. I've found Chrome with just the plain AdBlock to be the best for me. Main reason for using Chrome is the sync feature - so much easier than Firefox.

I actually really like how lightweight IE11 is with ABP - but then a website won't work correctly and I'm forced back to another browser.

If you're after ad blocking in Chrome, I definitely recommend the uBlock extension as an alternative. In my experience, it is much less resource intensive than the other ad blockers you mentioned while still allowing you to select from a variety of blocklists.

From time to time I have to move the cursor to the bottom left or right of the screen in order to get rid of the bar. It's a little annoying.

I wish Firefox was more multi threaded like Chrome. I think that’s the reason why Chrome feels quicker and nipper to use.

Hopefully we see some perforce improvement come when Firefox does go 64bit with the lunch of Win 10.

Is Fx not supposed to go multi-process with version 36 or so? I thought I read that somewhere.

Until Chrome supports line separators in the Bookmarks menu and has FireFTP like FTP client as an extension I will keep Firefox as my primary browser :/

It definitely could do with better threading support, at times 1 tab can slow down the whole lot in a way that it certainly shouldn't with proper threading.

Been a massive Firefox fan for years since version 1.

It's been great over the years. But I found that some versions where good, then they would update it and it would be lagging and slow again.

(OMG - and the spell check works in the browser! (Chrome))

For example some websites that have flash content or ad banners on the sides would be really slow in Firefox, but Chrome definitely seems a lot more nimble.

Example of website laggy in Firefox.

I'ts gonna take some getting used to tho as Im one of those people that just likes to stick to one thing as thats what I know! :o

I think also all the recent buzz around Android Lollipop 5 has got me all Googled up!

Hmm I'm not getting any problems with Firefox with that page, but I do have AdBlock and Ghostery reports nearly two dozen trackers on that page, there is a lot loading on that page which I suspect has something to do with it. No scroll slow down here either.

I have too many plugin extensions for FF that I'd hate to lose. Chrome feels too naked to me. FF may not be the sexiest browser out there but it is the most fully featured.

As for IE don't even get me started... tried installing 11 because certain software "requires it" but every other webpage causes it to freeze solid, not only that but Windows Explorer too. Can't even get Task Manager to open properly. Back to 9, then. Can't even find a valid install for 10 every MS link takes me to 11. Tried downloading a version from FileHippo but it says its the wrong OS version. Sigh...

Is that on Windows 7? Yeah I found it buggy as hell too. On 8.1 however, it's rock solid and definitely just as usable if you don't need the advanced customisation of Firefox or convenience of Chrome.

Oooh this sounds sexy!! It seems to be in the works. Taking them a long time tho.

Initial ETA February 16, 2015.

This I found funny. The A team developing Firefox's much needed multi threadedness:

"According to the post, several Firefox Metro engineers, a new engineering manager, a Google Summer of Code student, and a gfx contractor have been added to the project team recently.

Doesnt exactly fill you with confidence! :p
