Down under mate!
Hi just uninstalled this demo and on rebooting my machine, when I got to desktop I had an error saying about unable to start up install shield???

typed in msconfig and disabled this line

c:\program files\common files\installshield\updateservice\isuspm.exe

Disabling this in msconfig has stopped the error message on bootup but should I be concerned?

Thundy.

Update went over to the Jericho official forums and read this in a thread

http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=220699

There's a link in there to download the unistall utility and remove it.

Yup, whatever chance they had of selling the game to me died along with the discovery of additional software being installed without my knowledge or permission. As for the error on startup after removal, well that's just pure shoddyness.

It's only a patcher, get a grip. If it was some lame adware or rootkit I'd be the first to shout out, but it's not.

I agree that the error needs fixing, that's just lazy coding, but acting like this is spyware is just melodramatic.

Get a grip? Am I not allowed to make my own choices anymore? It's a simple concept, I don't like what they did therefore I wont buy. I never made out it was spyware, adware or a rootkit. The only person being melodramatic here is you

So where were you with your outrage when tons of other games since the adoption of the internet had built-in patching systems? Do you also boycott Valve products because of Steam?

I bet you don't, because you're just looking for something to get your knickers in a twist about.

coming from you? you basically implied the 'rootkit' in bioshock was against your human rights :p

Never said anything about human rights, in fact I think I told the guy who said that to calm down. What I did say about the activation in Bioshock was that it only affects the legitimate customer and not pirates.

Of course, had you read my posts properly at all you would know that.

Edit: Here you go, maybe you'll actually learn to read before putting words in my mouth again.

LMFAO @ this thread...

.........................I'm still bitching about the EA patch for MOHA :eek::D

edit: to the OP, sorry chap I'm going to read this thread again :D

installing a separate patcher? i love how people get upset about anything, when you install a game, you install dozens, sometimes hundreds, or even thousands of files, but people get all upset about 1 or 2 of them, even though if people wanted to they could add a virus into any of the files and you'd still have said yes to installing them.

patcher in game, sometimes means starting a game only to be told you have to download a patch before playing online = fine.

making patcher external to game, and able to routinely check for an update, and download in the background so you can start a game and at best, never ever need to wait to patch and play and at worst no different at all = terrible and evil?

personally i see that very easily EITHER method can VERY easily send data back about your system and playing habits, infact connecting to any online game could make data about you playing available. there is nothing worse about it being a separate application, there is entirely no difference.

nasty people can exploit you regardless of how the game is installed, good people will hopefully not take advantage.

if you can't accept that never ever install anything ever. meh, its quite obvious to everyone that data is sent about at least something on your computer to say MS, that people track your online usage. the single fact is, do you REALLY care, or are you getting upset for the sake. if some company knows you visit ocuk forums, or animal pron sites, do you really care? frankly they would have no interest in who you are, or using hte information against you or with your name, they just want to know where to advertise.

another cause for the sake of being behind a cause.

hopefully you and everyone else will make my future fun with having to manually approve and scroll through and accept terms and conditions on every single file i ever install. GO YOU.

ps, is the game any good? downloaded, not got round to installing/playing it yet.
