Just what is NVIDIA up to?

Have to say I've never been a fan of his, some of AMD's technical marketing over the years has been pretty awful. You only have to look at the RDNA 3 power efficiency claims and recent HUB videos of the disparity between where AMD thought their performance was vs where it actually was and AMD's susposed response to that.

Robert Hallock did not have anything to do with technical marketing for Radeon Graphics. Although that was initially his job, for the last 7 years or so he was doing technical CPU/APU marketing (Ryzen) only.

Robert was gone before that.

I like Robert, he was the face of AMD and a very good one at that, he will do well at Intel, its AMD's loss, Intel's gain.

It's a wonderful acquisition for Intel, they are lucky to have him.

Indeed, i don't know why he left AMD, but IMO AMD should have done anything possible to keep him, maybe they tried and he just wanted a new adventure, whatever it is i wish him all the best at Intel, he's a good man and brilliant at what he does.

AMD need a new face, Robert is going to be damned near impossible to replace.

I mean he only left last week but OK, all i remember of him was how he misrepresented i think it was something like XFR or PBO.

Little OT @Phixsator , but do you have the Innocn 40in or a variant of it per yr sig?
Nope mine is the now EOL brand SVIVE from a competitor to oc.uk based in scandinavia. It's the same panel though. I got it new for almost half of what the innocn(and the svive) normally sells for. Its alright, once warmed up, but it's not worth the full price and I suspect the same can be said for the innocn. Main reason being pixel response is a tad slow, not horrible but not great either.

My understanding is he'll be doing a similar role at Intel - working as a technical marketing director for the CPU and AI division, not working on gaming graphics cards. Intel already has people in that position for GPUs - like Tom Peterson

Ok thanks, the size intrigued me.

If you can get it with like a 30-40% savings on it then it might be worth thinking about. I'm overall pretty happy with it and don't feel the need for something else until OLEDs are cheaper and have a bigger selection. The good thing about it is that even if the response times are not stellar(you have to let it warm up for like 30 minutes) its pretty consistent across the board so you don't have those single transitions that stand out like a sore thumb. It's a tinkers discount monitor :)

whats the too long to watch?
AI AI AI AI AI AI large laguage models, AI AI AI AI.

And to finish it off, he actually demonstrated The more you buy, the more you save.

Accelerated computing powered by AI and Generative AI will (already is...) infiltrate every area of day to day life so fair game, they have created an AI GPU infrastructure that is unmatched, uses less power than traditional computing farms whilst doing orders of magnitude greater computation. So I guess this is where things are heading.

Did he do the "woosh.... i am the sound effects" thing?

I can't remember, I skimmed through the whole thing to see the juicy part.

And then the AI specs after the leather jacket :D

Apple has reportedly bought up all the TSMC 3NM capacity. Apple is stealing all the AI wafers from Nvidia!
