No the problem is they are overpriced, Nvidia is overpriced too but has enough market share which also translates to mindshare that they can get away with it to a certain extent though this gen has even seen Nvidia struggle in gaming.

Yes, Nvidia will have some mindshare, just like Intel has/had. Doing what AMD does is not gonna change that. They're just doing what Vaas said in FC 3 about madness. :)

:cry: Im less bothered about the brand name, but poor gen progression at the low end isn't great and the charging high prices seems to be way out of touch with the scene. Both seem happy to contribute to this paradigm.

I gave up on AMD this gen when I seen their power efficiency barely improved, the benchmarks were nowhere near the '50%' slides on release and the obvious pricing we all know about.

I wouldn't mind giving them a go but like what's already been said, they are lacking in certain areas.. and performance in AI apps. Only choice for those is either stump up to Nvidia or stick with what they have.

I've decided to overhaul the mobo at some point so think the cpu/ram bundle will be my next step. Hopefully when it settles there will be some realistic pricing for the 5000 series. If anything of what RGT mentioned today is true about RDNA4 then I hope intel have not thrown in the towel otherwise Jensen will be upping the price again.

He made plenty of £££ from the sale of the second 3080 I thought.. that and mining should have built up a pot of a couple of grand. Fair play to him not getting Ada though as the more that cave in to the 4080/90 cards the more its going to continue each gen. :)

I watched it. As usual AMD tries to overcomplicate things,and Nvidia just concentrate on making a decent dGPU instead of AMD re-inventing the wheel and failing.

The plan at the minute has been to upgrade my golf clubs rather than waste money on poorly priced GPUs.

If they are no better next gen then I’ll probably just grab a used 4090.

But this is what’s already happening. By design or by default AMD are not competing at the high end and their GPUs are cheaper and generally as good or better in many ways than their direct Nvidia competitor.

What AMD did wrong was still price them too high. If AMD had current prices on release I suspects people would still moan and wait for their Nvidia GPU prices to drop. That kind of thing is not mindshare, it’s almost like a cult.

AMD basically got greedy and massively overestimated their mindshare at launch.

£700 for a 7900 XT
£850 for an XTX

All the Nvidia fan boys and AMD haters will say that these cards are still overpriced at £700 for XT etc. lmao :p AMD have to literally give them away to appease these folks. (Why would they sell these for £500 when a 4060ti 16gb is selling for that?)
