Justin Wilson Indycar crash

Sadly feared this would be the outcome when I posted the thread, the atmosphere at the race made it seem very very bad like when Dan Wheldon died. Indycar hasn't been kind to British drivers over the last few years. Franchitti was fortunate to be able to retire in one piece also after his crash.

RIP Justin :(

15Kg sounds a lot for a nose cone. Do we know if that is comparable to F1 and other single seaters noses?

The carbon structure of the wing itself is very light, however Indycars run lead ballast in there too.

Yup. Apparently the DW12 car had issues with balance during initial testing and they stuck a quantity of ballast in there and it helped significantly. Heard it's between 10kg and 20kg depending on aero setup, all encased in a part designed to come off in case of a severe accident.

:(
