Why on earth does this keep coming up everytime I try to access my pen drive through My Computer?

I can access files off it fine through the browser window, and open it in explorer when the menu comes up after I insert it into the computer, but everytime I try to access it through my computer I get that stupid error.

is there something set in the autorun options for it?

turn on hidden files and browse the root of it

There's a non hidden file called tel.xls.exe that keeps recreating itself everytime I delete it. Autoplay is disabled if thats what you mean.

Ah, must be from the schools computers. No suprises there. :p This is exactly why I use a sandbox.

Then how does the file keep recreating itself using the autorun.ini file on the stick, despite the fact that I explicitly disabled autorun on all types of drive?

USB devices have autorun disabled by default bar USB CDROM drives.

for every usb storage device i have, when i plug it in (xp and vista) i get the 'what do you want to do' thing

and any device with the autorun.inf + icon loads the icon up

So is autorun enabled then? If so there must be another program recreating the file, it can't do it by itself.

Despite telling my computer earlier to disable autorun for some reason it only disabled it on cd-rom drives, I now have just had to go into the group policy editor and disable it that way as well. So much for microsoft automatically disabling it, it's this incompetence that causes so many security flaws. Looks like whoever wrote that malware file failed though as it was 0kb and failed to execute.
