Hi guys, just got back from my GF's and my brother said his K11 Micra is broke. I started her up and put it in gear, went to lift the clutch and at the usual bite point all I can hear is grinding and clanking from underneath. It goes into all gears ok, but i'm not 100% sure what is wrong here, is the clutch dead, gearbox knackered? the car won't move under its own power at all. I'm not suprised this has happened really, its got zero service history and it was previously my first car (which needless to say, I ragged to death)

Any ideas?

mine made a clanking from underneath, kinda like some baking trays hitting together.

my problem was a 2quid spring in the gearbox, which when you moved the gearstick to between 1st and 2nd, it didnt 'spring' back to between 3rd and 4th when you let go of it. Check this:) The garage said the spring isnt needed, and would cost 10quid inc parts to fix. Good job its a jap car, a french one would have needed a new gearbox:p

EDIT: didnt read that the car wont move bit properly. hmm wil have a think not sure at the moment what the problem could be

Have you tried (pulling off) in all the gears or just 1st (i know you said goes into but not if it makes same noise)?

our primera did this, and we thought it was the clutch but it turned out the drive shaft had broke at the hub, causing all the power to goto the disconnected drive shaft....

but if its still doing it in N, then surely its the clutch...
