K2 Mount Doom or H80i for this OC Bundle?

K2 hands down.
Never have to worry about a leak or pump failure. They may not happen often but they cannot happen with the K2.. and with better fans like TY-147 or even more the TY-143 the K2 cools even better. Ask Uncle Petey, I think he used TY-147 on his before he got all wet with a custom loop. ;)

As above, I went air and glad I did as you dont have to worry about anything breaking, just ram clearances and case sizes lol
 
Second vote for the K2 Mount Doom, I have this and its a great cooler as doyll said. As for it fitting in the 300R a quick search online and I've seen ppl fit this in so should be OK.
 
Vote for the H80i. Configurable, very effective, and quiet when configured properly.

Not saying the K2 isn't all of these things of course.
 
H80i for me too. Clean and easy installation. More pleasing to the eye and if you need to move your rig you've not got to worry about the 1Kg+ lump of metal hanging from your CPU socket.
 
I went from K2 to H100, made about 2 degrees difference at idle, but the cpu never goes over 60 degrees on full load.

Cannot fault either cooler really.

What are the fans like on the H80i? Loud?
 
I would go Mount Doom, although my favorite air cooler is Megahelms. You can use any RAM you want with this one and it does not block any RAM slots.

Personally I'd go for the H80i, not that it would cool any better but purely for looks and the RGB lit corsair logo.

I hear the supplied SP120L fans are a little noisy at full speed but these can easily be turned down via the Corsair link software as they are crazy RPM at full pelt.

I've had an Antec Kuhler 920 and now use a H100i, never had any issues to date with either cooler and I think you would have to be extremely unlucky to spring a leak, they are very solid reliable coolers and very popular.

There aren't as many failures with the hydro coolers as many peeps seem to think

To dispell that - I've fitted 24 H100i's and 17 H80i's, with only one RMA for 'noisy' fans.

People never seem to post the good news, bad news always seems more flavoursome LOL
 
But there is a greater percentage of hydro failures than air cooler failures.. even in the first few months. How many more will be failing 2 or 3 years on? I'm betting many more than than 2 or 3 year old air coolers.

I still own a H70 that I bought in June 2011 which is still going strong at the moment :)

It's getting replaced soon, purely due to other concurrent system upgrades, but it'll get replaced with another Corsair Hydro model based on this ones performance!

IIRC you're one of those that had a bad experience with these.

There's also more moving parts and electronics. It's not lucky to get a good one, just unlucky to have one fail.

No, as I don't use them.

You are correct about more moving parts and electronics. I prefer the KISS principle. Less chance of being unlucky. :D
