K702 disappointment

Give the HD598 a shot. The HD555 have that veiled soft sound but the HD598 are much clearer with a wider sound stage. But not harsh and fatiguing like the 702s (That's what they are like for me, they are good headphones for others for sure)

I prefer the HD598/HD599 for gaming over my HD650s, the sound stage is easier to pick out stuff and feels wider. Don't get me wrong the 650s are still decent for gaming but if you're looking for good all rounders then pick up some HD598/9
 
Thanks for the reply, really helpful, I wanted the HD598's orginally, and I do only mostly use my cans for gaming so I suppose it would make more sense, my SB-Z would power them as well. Think I will see which are cheaper on Black Friday and buy the HD598's or 650's.
 
If you didn't like the K702 I can't see you liking the HD598. Less resolution and has a similar curve accept the 598 is a bit more bloated sounding with less peaks. The 598 isn't really an exciting headphone and lacks the speed of the 702. The HD650 is a fuller more detailed headphone with superior imaging to the 598 and has a more well rounded sound much more dynamic and punchy.
 
I tried the K702's with my Creative Z and a NuForce uDAC3 and they sucked on both.

They honestly sounded like a pair of £20 Sennheiser 201's. They were that bad. I returned them as I didn't fancy forking out another £150 for a more suitable amp.
