Kaby Lake Pentium G4620 - has it got hyperthreading?

I'm looking at upgrading from an Athlon II x4 cpu and the G4560 is looking like a very good option in this case.

Will Kaby Lake CPUs work with skylake mobos like the one below?

Yes they do. Going by the asus website cpu support list, they'll support up to the 7700.

Another thing that's interesting about this, is it may force AMD to undercut it with the AM4 Bristol Ridge lineup. That could sting a bit, assuming AMD will be shipping in volume.

That is a bargain and I'm just about to bag it for HTPC duties thanks to the the dedicated 4K HEVC and VP9 decode/encode hardware. Those CPU hogging 4k youtube vids should be sorted now.

Yeah these a looking like great chips. Going to order one for a NAS build with a C232 board.

Interesting, so entry level HP/Dell servers will no longer come with Celeron/Pentium options then? (at least not this gen).

TBF,most of the market for the G4560 probably won't need ECC support,but for a budget gaming build,or for media duties it does look like one of the best budget CPUs Intel has released for a while - better than the Pentium G3258 IMHO OFC.

its a shame the cheapest mobo for the Z270 is £113 and you cant get a Z170 to work unless you have a supported cpu and can do a bios update (thats if there is even one for the mobo you buy)

Looks like the entry level will be the Xeon E3 1220V5 once all the stock is gone.

No cheaper Z270 Mini Itx Boards available yet so the G4560 can be used for HTPC
