Ending the ban on plastic straws is a good thing - it's actually completely farcical how it started.

An enthusiastic 9-year-old kid called Milo Cress came up with a flawed estimate of 500 million straws a day being used after phoning up manufacturers as part of an environmental project - this figure then just got repeated a bunch of times and picked up/cited by news media and politicians who then used it in arguments to ban plastic straws... problem is it was completely flawed. Ironically many of the so called "paper" straws that are used instead actually contain plastic too, or in some cases also come wrapped in plastic, the whole thing is a farce.

Anyway back to Ye - there's a history of animosity towards Jews from within the Hip Hop community; Jewish people have been rather successful in the music industry and are seen as exploiting black artists etc.. (perhaps actually true in some individual cases in so far as music industry management can certainly be exploitative at times but not a reason to label an entire ethnic group!) I guess that's a popular narrative that's been simmering away in his circles but most wouldn't be so bold (or crazy) as to speak about it publicly or indeed go full edge-lord and start posting ridiculous stuff about Hitler.

He should be careful lest people start assuming things due to Diddy.

Moving away from single use plastics is not farce, it’s a small change with large environmental and health benefits.

West as with most MAGA members have strange views on the world usually not based in reality.

I don't think you understood the post you've replied to - there aren't large environmental and health benefits from banning plastic straws (the basis for the argument is flawed) and the replacement straws often contain plastic anyway and/or worse are even wrapped in it:

That’s funny, I think you read my reply again. Plastics pollution is damaging to the environment and health. It’s a rather large problem.

I think you English not good.

No one said it wasn't, banning plastic straws isn't going to do much there.

(edit - this is getting a bit off-topic, maybe we should open a different thread if you want to continue the "discussion").

Less plastic is still less plastic.

I'm sure there will be absolutely zero consequences from all those micro/nanoplastics gunking up our organs though so whatever.

I'd imagine straws are the least of those problems.
  • Synthetic fibers
These fibers are made from polymers found in petroleum and natural gas. Examples of synthetic fibers include nylon, acrylics, polypropylene, and polyester.

your breathing those plastic nylon and polyester fibres in daily, they probably sit in your lungs until you die.

Yeah it’s a problem isn’t it. Sometimes people need saving from themselves. It’s probably a bit late late to save Kanye though.
