Took the parents out shopping this morning as they hate driving round town, was outside waiting on them and seen a poor little dog outside the supermarket that looked like it hadn't ate in weeks, so doing a good deed I bought it 2 small tins of food and water.

Bit random I know, but I felt it was my good deed of the day, I decided to go jogging and left the parents back home, went for a quick jog to lose some of the Xmas weight and was driving home, turned the traction control off as I've heard its a waste if petrol for around town, went around a roundabout a bit heavy footed and the rear end went out (was real wet), over corrected too much and ended up hitting a pedestrian railings and spinning the car around.

Front bumper needs replaced, bonnet is bit pushed in at the corner and a fee dents down the drivers side has a few scrapes and dents. Luckily no one was involved and the car is repairable
.
keep thinking what if someone was at the pedestrian crossing :(
Serious eye opener, its a 320i se, gonna cost in the region of 400+ to get it back to looking well, gutted.

Never turn the traction control off, especially when it's raining. Really gutted to hear that, hope you can sort it out.

I've never heard having the TC off is a waste of petrol..
I only ever turn it off if I purposely want to slide the back out.

There should be two settings on your TC though. Did you press it once, or hold it for 3-5 secs?
Unlucky, I trust you'll be leaving it on from now on ;)

What tyres are you running on the back btw?

And I think it's carma :p

Harsh. :( Who told you to turn it off?

As you've found it, it's really not wise to turn if off unless you're pretty handy behind the wheel and expecting it to step out, especially in the wet.

Sounds like the lesson has been learnt anyway, if you're lucky you might find a bumper in the same colour.

Maybe the dog choked to death on the food without you knowing, so you had karma back for killing the dog :p

TC doesn't use any fuel. It actually cuts fuel injection (on most systems) too when it is activated. Thus it can only potentially *save* fuel.
