Kaspersky 2009 + BSODs

Hi,

I put vista 64 on this machine when i built it a few months ago, along with kaspersky Internet Security 2009 that came free from Barclays online banking. Since installing vista i have had 2 blue screens that seem to have been caused by Kaspersky (upon restart, the vista problem tool reports that the BSOD was caused by kaspersky), both giving the IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL error (i think). I have a feeling that the errors have occurred when Kaspersky auto-updates, although i cannot be sure since i have not been at the computer on both occasions (and tbh, it does it automatically, and the little icon is hard to see). On both occasions, i have been running folding@home, probably a web browser (opera and IE) and winamp (i think), as well as some monitoring tools like core temp.

I used the previous version of kaspersky on vista 32/xp for quite a while, and whilst some updates issued by kaspersky would cause some strange problems, i never had a problem with BSODs. Has anyone else had any problems with vista 64 and Kaspersky - and is there anything i can do (other than swap AV)!

Cheers, any help is appreciated

Thanks pideon - im not sure its the same problem, but something is obviously wrong with the way in which they test their updates. A sahme, because otherwise its a good bit of software.

Dare I suggest the following...

A while ago I had said BSODs with random programs though. My problem ended up being the CPU was undervolted, although mostly related to Symantec Endpoint. A notch up and stress testing fixed it.

I had Kaspersky 2009 blue screening on me on a fresh install of vista. Uninstalling, rebooting then re-installing fixed it for me.

Cheers guys - i will concede it could be a lack of stability. When i initially did the stress test, it failed (prime95) at just over 7hrs and 30mins, so i upped the vcore a little and left it. I did get another blue screen since from a hardware error after this, so was a little more generous with the vcore, but it has been folding pretty heavily since, and im confident in its stability (well, maybe not anymore!). Maybe a little more couldnt hurt! I'll give a few runs on memtest as well to be on the safe side.

I may try unistalling/reinstalling - reading around the Kaspersky lab forums a bit it seems that there have been quite a few rougue updates causing problems, particularly with vista 64. I think i'll leave it for a little while, and if it happens again i'll try some more drastic measures!
