Umm, wasn't sure how to word the title but basically, my Kaspersky 1 year license is about to expire, but when i try and renew it, it wants me to buy the 2010 edition. All i want is to buy another years definition updates and keep the 2009 software. I've checked their site but it doesn't say.

Does anyone know if that's even possible?

Cheers

Don't know your specific circumstances but... are the updates supposed to continue on beyond 2009 - ie is your licence supposed to extend beyond 2009?

Rainmaker has a thread about problems with updates and a broken promise from Kaspersky. In the end OCuk proved that their customer service is excellent and supplied him with licences for 2010.

EDIT: In that thread, it was stated that Kaspersky discontinued support and updates due to piracy of 2009

You buy your renewal license as normal. Program updates like from 2009 to 2010 are free anyway. 2010 is excellent and seems more stable than 2009 overall.

Also if you bank with Barclays, sign up for a free barclays online account and you get a free 3 user license for Kaspersky Internet Security. We have 4 of us in our household and each of us uses the online service so we basically get 12 free licenses!

my renewal was up in Jan this year. received numerous emails regarding keeping it etc which i ignored because it was expensive. then on the day before it was due to run out i got offered a 3 pc license for £7.99. sweet. means my Mum and sister can have a copy too. i've also just downloaded the 2010 Kaspersky. all seems ok

and as for Barclays. i never noticed that until i'd already purchased my license. Doh

You just select the same named package, ie. KIS 2009 becomes KIS 2010, you then have the option to download 2010 or simply enter the new acitvation code into your current 2009 install and continue as normal.

I've got the free 3 user license via barclays, any idea what happens at renewal time for this?
