Kaspersky versus Avast?

I remember that a short while ago Kaspersky was being touted as the best at detection, now that site indicates that it is rubbish. Has it really got so much worse?

Are you looking at the av-comparitives review for Kaspersky version 7 or the new KIS 2009? The link to the KIS 2009 av-comparitives review is here and rates KIS 2009 as "advanced". The review was discussed on the Kaspersky forums here..

I believe that you can turn off the KIS firewall if not required - indeed, I think there may be an option to install KAV only during install if required.

What's wrong with Vista's outbound filtering?

For a start, it's not switched on by default. Unless you've dicked about with the Windows Firewall snap-in for Microsoft Management Console it'll still be off. Enjoy!

Avira is also less intrusive than everything else, and I've tried everything. Avast gets annoying...
