Hi Guys

Been using AVG anti virus (free) for a while now and am thinking of buying a full version of either Kaspersky 7 or NOD32 (they seem to be the best avaliable).

Which do you reckon is the better one?

Thanks:D

Kaspersky. Best Antivirus and software firewall around. Nothing will get through. Very small on the mem usage too. It looks after itself by updating itself without you knowing and scans away whilst you work away.

Can't recommend it more. NOD32 didn't work well with my system. It kept crashing. I'm guessing it is my system as a fair lot of you like NOD32.

I still say go with Kaspersky.

Something will always get through if you push it hard enough! ANyway having tested both thoroughly enough I would overall reccommend NOD32 Anti-virus. The protection is a shade behind Kaspersky (which has the best detection engine), but there's not much in it in real-terms and my overall system performance and responsiveness was higher with NOD32, and when spending so much time on a computer than is one factor which you can't afford to ignore.

i think it's safe to say, no one will have migrated from nod32 to kaspersky or the other way around

seems to be a "well i've heard the other one is good, but not really tried it out, and i'm used to how x works now"

if you cba to pay, then get avast, its pretty solid

as above everyone has their preferences, but have used nod32 for years and have recently upgraded to "Eset smart security" for vista with no problems dual boot with XP but only use vista on the web.

everyone to their own, did try kaspersky once but not to my taste, or too old to teach a dog new tricks..........thought I might add renewing after first year is cheaper

The footprint of both is so small i find it very strange anyone would notice any difference in performance with either.

I migrated to Nod from Kaspersky. I was using Kaspersky and Outpost for my security but never really got on with it. I now use Nod and Windows firewall behind a router. I prefer Nod, it just seems easier to use to me. Just my opinion nothing scientific.

It is indeed just sooooo strange, I dwelled on it for months and months.

Or it could be that in practise NOD32's engine is lighter on the overall system performance. I used Kaspersky for about 4 months, I was in a good position to see and feel the difference.

I'd agree with this. Once you get hooked on one of them, nothing about the other will convert you. You're either Kaspersky or NOD32. Like all football fans are Man Utd fans or not. :p

Sounds like they are both recommended so not any closer to choosing.

I think I will check out both on trial.
That is the best thing to do. We recommend what we ourselves use or have used. Although we will say "NOD32 OR Kaspersky" because we know those are the two good ones.

Trialling both gives you a way to try both out and see how they affect your PC and how easy you find them to use. :)

Nod32 for me. Used it at home for 3+ years and at work too.
Though I'd recommend their Smart Security Suite over the stand alone AV program.

Tried both on numerous systems and Kaspersky always came out on top.. You can only really have a say if you have tried both NOD32 & Kaspersky. That was the problem with the poll we had a while ago, too many people hadnt tried them both and you could tell with the results.
