Kayak flight search: Am I doing it wrong?

I'm looking to make a flight next week, Kayak has a useful feature of +/-3 days to my search to show a range of prices for the corresponding dates. This feature is complete baloney! Or am I doing it wrong?

Example1 observe the dates 03/04+17/04 = £911

Example2 observe the same dates 03/04+17/04 = £635

Did you change filter settings or something? The price sometimes changes too when you try to go buy it?

I don't know if this is actually workable or not, but I heard clearing your cookies etc is useful.
