Keep getting beachballed

Since installing my Optibay-a-like I've been getting quite a lot of beachballs and the system locking up for a minute or two. Its doing my swede in. I never got it before when my mechanical HDD was in an external caddy connected by USB.

Any suggestions. Cheers.

Hmm, if it's a second drive then it could be going to sleep. Check the drive isn't set to power down.

OSX will make beachballs when waiting for drives to spin up.

Additionally have you verified that the drive is ok? (both disc verify and permissions verify)
