Keepass password safe?

You are nearly right, I think you got your wires crossed somewhere ;)

If you install Lastpass to say Firefox and that is where you have all your current passwords stored Lastpass will offer to import them all in to Lastpass and disable the built in password manager in your browser.

Just an update on that I used lastpass yesterday on my wife's explorer and it was able to find logins and passwords for quite a few sites stored locally she's now on lastpass and finds it great. No matter what site she visits she's instantly logged in.

Also the app allows you to change the password for something more robust and since you have lastpass everywhere you go it's no problem even if you choose a 32 char key.

I also like the OTP idea for use on public pcs.

Still a bit of reading to do but for me it seems like a great solution.

just have to see if I can run portable firefox from the office.

You can use the addon called keefox for firefox, it works with your keepass software and fills in the login info on sites.

Otherwise yeah it has a notes option underneath so you can add info like pins, numbers and text etc.

You can copy and paste the username and password separate as well on sites if it does not work.

Quick question about lastpass.

Just installed it and ill use overclockers for example. Its asked me to save my existing password for this lets say password123. Now its saved in last pass if i click generate will this change the password within overclockers for me? or do i have to copy that generated password and put it into my user CP?

Thanks.

Not quite dude, if you go to the OCUK CP and change your password Lastpass will detect the change and offer to save it and replace the old one. I think if you click Save or Accept or something similar when generating passwords it might do it but I have never done it that way just to be on the safe side.

KIA - If my memory serves me well, I seem to remember that when I tried KeePass albeit years ago, that when I'd tried pasting passwords from KeePass via the clipboard that some sites wouldn't allow pasting?

Yes, some sites don't allow data to be pasted into a field, but I don't come across this problem very often.

The ASUS RT-N56U's WebUI is one of the culprits. :(
