Keeping rats

Male rats' big balls are part of their charm in my opinion. It's pretty funny seeing this adorable little rodent hauling sack half its size around.

Ha! I worked at a pet shop in my youth and remember a woman kicking up a right fuss that we were selling rats that were abnormal. I asked her to point out which rat she thought was odd and it turned out to be a male with huge cajones. I've never seen someone turn as red since that time.

I have kept rats for about 8 years now and have had males and females (dumbo variety) In my experience the females are a lot more energetic and unwilling to sit still, just like real life, and the males make much better lap rats that will sit on you while watching telly looking for an ear scratch. If you can put up with the slightly stronger smell and bulging nutsacks I'd go for a pair of males, I say a pair because you shouldn't keep rats alone.
