Keeping same number/starting a different contract with the same network

I need to sign up for a new contract however I want to keep my number and would like to stick with carphonewarehouse/o2 (because of thier unbranded of phones). To get a better deal its best to sign a new contract and not go for an upgrade.

What is to stop me from porting my number over to say Vodafone pay as you go then porting the number back over to o2 in a months time?

Also are o2 the only network not to brand their phones? As far as I am aware all the other networks do.

If you buy from Carphone Warehouse I think they just use unbranded handsets in general but I've only ever used O2 and BT Mobile from them so I can't say for sure.

In theory you can probably port like that but some networks have a minimum time period that you must have the number on their network for I believe so that might mess your plan up.

Cheers for that, hmm my plan might be scuppered! Its hard to know what the time limit is as I can hardly ask a network!
