Any tips? Feels like i come down every morning to the smell of cat food, litter, and all that.

What do you use? Plug ins if so any recommendations? May seems silly but its getting to me lol

When we were stuck in an apartment with mine, the only non-smelly kitty litter was sainsbury's own odourless one, none of the other brands worked and we'd tried them all. Do you give it clean bowls every day?

I was watching 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown the other night, and Sean Lock had a food plugin AF with a variety of cheese attachments. Love that show. :D

I have 2 kittys and there is only really bad smells if you leave the kitty litter for around a week. Try the wood pellet kitty litter seems to last good and smells of wood most of the time as the clay types really do help keep the smells hanging a round imo ,keep cleaning there poop up out of tray every day or two even the wet patches will keep the smell down and make the litter go further so go buy a poop scoop
As for food try dry cat foods seem to smell less than the wet stuff

Will have a look out for it, i think the litter isnt the main issue but the food, if he leaves it it starts to smell, but you dont notice til you go upstairs and come back down so i dont want to stink of cat without realising lol

Clean his bowl probably once every 2 days so will do it everyday now, am trying to get in the habbit of making him finish eating before we go to work then empty the bowl and feed him when we get home and do the same before bed so its not left over night

It's not possible. Anyone from a non-cat household will instantly be able to smell a cat no matter how hard you try and minimise the smell.

Hooded litter trays and catsan. Cheap litter won't do you any favours.

Also hoovering every few days and cleaning out their dishes regularly will all help.

Plus not giving them cheap nasty food like whiskas will help, as they're eating less stuff that they don't actually need in their diet. Look for food with a high meat/fish content, like 50% and above.

TBH what Panthro says is true. We have two cats and coming back from being away the smell is noticeable. However, it's probably more down to the neighbourhood tom coming in and spraying in our kitchen.

We've just got a microchip catflap to prevent said tom ruining our lives, but it's a bit hit and miss with my cat (he's a big old bugger and his chip has moved a bit, so it takes some doing for the chip to get close enough to the loop in the flap).

The best thing you can do is let your cat out and stop using a tray. Failing that, keep on top of keeping the tray clean. It's the urine that stinks long term, cat turd is best dealt with straight away. Our best buy aside binning the tray altogether was when we bought an enclosed tray.

Oh, and as others recommend above - catsan is the best reasonably-priced litter by a long way.

May try catsan, litter tray is out the living room so thats not a prob!

What food do u lot use? We have been trying Sheba but that seems the stinkiest so far!

Indoor cat food helps make poop be less smelly as well as giving them nutrients that they aren't getting from not eating Grass.

I second that wood pellets are far superior to clay cat litter. A hooded and odor-filter cat litter tray can help a lot with smells

As for cat food smell. Only fish based wet food smells. The rest aren't too bad and your cat shouldnt be leaving it around. As soon as wet sits for 30 mins - 1 hour you should be removing it really. Especially in summer.

If your cat leaves it lying around then eiter they aren't hungry, or may prefer dry food. Just make sure its good quality dry food and lots of water is provided all over the house

We are in the process of encouraging him out side, stays out for an hour or so, comes to the door and runs straight to the litter tray, *****, and runs back out lol

Need to nip that in the bud! Catflap is on the cards but our only option is having it cut into our rear french doors, no side door on the house :(

Also i agree about clay, awful stuff! Tried it once as sainsburies only had that in stock and we threw it away!

Im probably making it sound worse than it is, it doesnt stink but its a noticeable odour for me.

get rid of the cat. It's the only way.

you'll think the smell is gone, but people will notice it.

"cats are very clean animals". Bullpoop.
