Keeps going in standby

Since my Belinea 22" is broke, in need of replacement I got a Sony Trinitron Multiscan E250 17" for a replacement till I get my other one back.

It works upto Windows XP logo then when it logs into windows it goes on standby :S

so i tried formatting, it worked till i installed graphic drivers and it did it again

i can only assume windows is putting it into a res it cannot use so monitors going on standby?

need help :/

seems odd. can you boot into windows in safe mode and set a resolutions that way?

i can boot into safe mode but dunno how to change the res for when I start up normally.

whatever resolution you set in the display panel will be what it boots up with on the next normal boot. if its still doing it it could be a problem with the card? im not sure what else it could be tbh.

other monitor was fine though

it says this 17" monitor can go up to 1920x1440
weird.

im in safemode now, i set it to 1024,768 and gonna reboot into normal see what it does.

I think it's something to do with this VGASave crap..
