Anyone here use a kensington lock? I got one for my gaming laptop, the combination lock type. It works perfectly but when actually attached to the laptop it is not a tight fit, i.e. i can 'wiggle' it around a bit which has me slightly concerned that it could simply be 'snapped' off.

Can anyone tell me if this is the norm or do yours fit tightly in place?

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

I used to use one when I used a laptop in a public place.
I would leave it on my desk unattended often.

It was so a bit loose and could probably be snapped off if you wanted.

I just used mine to deter opportunists.
You won't stop somebody who is determined or an idiot who just snaps it off and damages the laptop.

They all wiggle a bit - can't be snapped off as easily as it seems unless the laptop has an unreinforced slot (which sadly a lot of cheaper laptops don't have) for it or its a cheap version of the lock. It would only serve to delay someone who was really determined though but a good enough protection against opportunists.

EDIT: Dunno how common proper sockets on the laptop itself are - my previous 2 laptops one was a business one the other a custom Clevo chassis and both had reinforced slots for the Kensington lock.
