n00b question here:

I think XP is only 1-2 CPU licensed...

What happens when you run XP with a Kentsfield?

See MS FAQs..

Q. How does this licensing policy affect products such as Microsoft Windows XP Professional?

A. Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Windows XP Home are not affected by this policy as they are licensed per installation and not per processor. Windows XP Professional can support up to two processors regardless of the number of cores on the processor. Microsoft Windows XP Home supports one processor.

I was surprised to see anything making efficient use of 4 cores, but those benchmarks very clearly show that some existing software does. That's promising. Cost will probably be silly, although my A64 Venice at 2.25GHz is still powerful enough for me so I don't mind how much quad-core will cost.

I bet this changes at some point ( in regards to number of cores that can be used) , I actually thought it already had but I must have been mistaken
