It has worked flawlessly the last 10 months I have had it.

However since Tuesday I have been getting BSOD. The error is Kernal Data Inpage Error with a stop code of 0x0000007A.

The crash dump stays stuck at "Initialising disk for crash dump...".

I am unable to restart the machine unless I do a FULL power cycle. The machine seems to do the BSOD randomly and I have not been at the PC whilst it has done it .

I have googled the Error and Stopcode to no avail. However I did find one mention of this on another forum reporting that the new 10g Firmware for the Crucial M4 which is my primary OS drive.

I am going to update t0 10g (pretty such I am currently pre-0309 actually) but is there anything else anyone might suggest ? Or has anyone else seen this error?

I am at work this morning so left the PC running in Safe Mode to see if it occurs in Safe Mode also.

Regards Neil.

I'd upgrade the firmware first and see how you get on, 0309 is ancient.

Specifically one of the more recent firmwares fixed this show-stopping bug:
Crucial said:
Correct a condition where an incorrect response to a SMART counter will cause the m4 drive to become unresponsive after 5184 hours of Power-on time. The drive will recover after a power cycle, however, this failure will repeat once per hour after reaching this point. The condition will allow the end user to successfully update firmware, and poses no risk to user or system data stored on the drive.

Strictly speaking though KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR generally points to a HDD problem.

Interestingly that could be my issue as the machine has been running longer than that actually. I will do the firmware upgrade when i get home.

Surely an SSD is an HDD?
