Kernel mode driver stopped responding!

A week into using my new machine the nivida experience updated my drivers and ever since my system keeps freezing with the above kernel message or on boot artefacts cover the screen. I have uninstalled the drivers, even installed old drivers no success! Any advice much appreciated.

Windows 8.1 64bit, gtx970.

It's been awhile since i used to know all this stuff. But what is the dude?

I have reinstalled the drivers several times!

I have tried numerous drivers. Kernel error keeps coming up. Also getting a lot of red snow now on boot? Have checked the connections to the board and swapped the memory to the other slots.

Dodgy Superflower 550 psu or bad MSI GTX970 4K gaming edition?

Sent my 970 back because of this. The vram issue I could live with. The constant black screens due to driver crashing I could not. Nothing helped. It was an MSI too.

Going to return my build by rma and change the gpu...

Just noticed you went for the R9 asus 290x. I have an asus motherboard so could be a good choice. How do you rate it.

Was also looking at the MSI 290 4 & 8gb gaming editions?

Have you used a driver cleaner in safe mode? and then installed the nvidia drivers?

I have an ASUS motherboard also - P8Z68-V Gen3. I am very happy with my ASUS 290x It is a normal 4GB one (full 4Gb...) as I only game at 1080p. This one to be exact: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-330-AS

With the newest Omega drivers and latest vbios, no issues at all. Rock solid. A breath of fresh air after all the trouble with the 970!
