Hey guys,

Past couple of days,My computer has just been randomly crashing and restarting itself just doing random stuff like internet etc,Its been rock solid stable ever since i built it up until a few days.

I've done the following to see if it causes a crash.which none of what i tried caused a crash.

  • Ran Prime 95 for a little while (no crash)
  • Ran Furmark (no crash)
  • Watched temps while running the above, temps are absolutely fine.

Ive even re-installed Windows 8.1,But it still does it.

Heres what event viewer says -

I fixed this on mine, was something to do with hibernation settings. Quickly googling isn't finding the forum post.

Took me about a year and 2 new builds to finally rid of it. (Touch wood)

I'll try and find the batch file I downloaded which turned off hibernation, when I get home. I'm pretty sure that's all was required (and I haven't seen it again since). This worked for me, not saying it will 100% work for you, but it might help! Kernel 41 seems to be the most annoying and random error event.

Right its just crashed again.

Was just watching music videos on YT and the sound went all slow motion then stopped then the monitor lost its input signal..i pressed restart on the tower to be greeted with a large red box on the screen and nothing happens until i force restart again then it loads windows fine.

I enabled memory dump as instructed before, and also have BSOD viewer installed,But BSOD viewer says 0 crashes, maybe its looking in the wrong place for the crash report?

Potential Flash player issue?.Last few drivers caused me to have random freezes/lockps with a browser open.Unistalled Flashplayer and switched to html5 for YT ect,no issues since.

Worth a shot at least

Edit: If you have to hit the reset due to freeze/crash BSOD viewer isnt much use as it just regards as it as the thread title (Kernal powerevent)

When I had issues with things like Flash/You Tube random crashes, I fixed it by upping the PCI-E voltage a notch. As far as I could tell, it was something to do with power saving mode that when I was running at full speed (ie had a game playing) I didn't get the same issues.

How do i go about switching to html5 for YT?..I'm on chrome.

Dont really like messing with voltages and stuff, but il try it as a last resort if all of the other stuff fail to sort the issue. ;)

il roll back a driver, see if it changes anything, saying that i bet in a week or so we will see new drivers coming out anyway with GTA been on its way out.

Have a read through the other events prior to the crash, as errors and critical warnings can help to narrow down the problem.
What does it say, concerning the NvStreamSvc?

It does seem to be throwing a lot of nvstream.

Hi there,

The volmgr error occurring at the same time as the kernel errors looks more suspect tbh.

A quick google, says it's something related to the page file, have you disable or changed this in any way?

Also, I have noticed in your listed specs that your ram timings is cas7 is this xmp enabled or by user overclock? If it's the latter please try just using xmp instead and see if that makes any difference. Could be the unstable ram timings causing your issues.

Hope that helps

Edit: You can try running memtest86 to fish out the errors or unstable overclocks, but my money is on either the page file settings or ram overclocks being unstable

Hi mate,

I've not touched any page file settings at all,As for the Cas7 timings they're the XMP timings of my ram.

Go over to the Windows 8 forum, and look for the BSOD section, follow their guide to uploading the required info, and the guy will sort it out for you mate, give it a day or so, for him to reply but he will, he replies, and sorts out every problem that he gets.

I had random BSDOD's a few months ago, and he sorted it within 2 days, he is a Blue Screen god.
