A query for GDers

I've always kept all my keys on one big bunch. Car, garage, front door, bike, the lot. No fancy keyrings, just a big bunch of keys.

This is keeping all my eggs in one basket but (touch wood) I've never lost keys. Whenever I've experimented with separate bunches of keys I've found myself out and about needing a key which has been left at home.

My new car has one of those flip out keys and I've heard you should have too many keys on there because the weight can break the key when in the ignition, so I was just wondering how the good people of GD manage all their keys.

Thanks

House keys in wallet, car key on its own as 90%+ of the time I don't carry the car key. Cant stand bunches of keys.

roll on when everything will be retina or similar.

Car key and three different house keys on one fob.
Second fob with work/gate keys that gets left in the car.

Anything else stays in the house somewhere :)

I carry car key, front door and backdoor keys, gate fob, and postbox key on one key ring. We have several duplicates of these for when we have family and guests staying with us, and the cleaner and nanny both get a set. Shed, bike locks etc are on a separate key ring which stays in the house.

Welp, that's my key ring story, thanks for reading.

car key on its own, van key on its own i have a front door key, back door key and garage key on one ring with a clasp and attach it to whatever vehicle key i go out in, if i don't take a vehicle i just take the house keys.

Spare set at mother in laws.

I'll read any story that involves your ring.

Lucky enough to live somewhere that doesnt require me to lock my front door, so all I have in my pocket is my car keys. When I go back up to London I just leave my house keys in the car and break them out when I need to get in. I'm not a fan of unsightly jangingling bulges in my trousers :p

My car key is attached via 1 ring to my house key. All other keys are in a drawer in the house because all of the locks they open are in or around my house.

So judging by the responses most people just have the door and car key on them when out and about and leave the others in the house. Maybe I'm just set in my ways but when I leave the house I grab keys, phone and wallet and I'm all set with any key I might need.

Thanks GD looks like I might need to run 2 sets of keys and leave one in the house.

front door key, back door key, usb stick

and car key seperate

don't get why folk do the whole carry a million keys around thing, me ma's the worst at this i swear she has more keys on one keychain than there could possibly be door she could need to open.

I carry my car key, house/garage key (keyed alike), garage door and shed key on my keyring as I tend to need them all on a regular basis.

I used to have 3 house keys and the garage personal door key, but I got fed up of having to find the right one, and got 4 locks that used the same key :) (from memory the cost of keyed alike locks was offset by the saving from not having to get 4 additional keys cut for each lock).

So you live in the Shire but have to protect your ring when you venture to Mordor?

I have a universal key for the house, and only take car keys when I'm taking car otherwise I leave car keys at home. So I carry 1 key, or 2 keys at most.

Apartment key, front gate key and garage door buzzer on one keyring, along with two other keys, but I can't remember what they're for. I keep them, hoping that one day they'll get me out of/in to some situation which will make for a great story down the line.

Car key, front door key, and about seven other random keys on the fob which were probably important once, but now I have absolutely no idea what they do.
I really must sort my key fob out.

I used to have everything on one fob, however I was getting sick of the jingling noise when driving the car (the car was on the same fob).

I now have 1 car key by itself and then my house/work keys together.

I have (four)two sets of keys.

On one set, my car key, tesco clubcard fob and a rubber 'Inside out' character (Anger, for those interested). I then have a second set which has my front door key on, with various key rings, and most importantly a carabiner(sp?). When I go home and in the house, I'll connect the car key through a ring onto the carabiner to make one set of keys. When I'm not at home, the house keys simply go in the centre console and stay there until i get home :)

I then have my motorbike key with a single rubber fob and alarm control box on. Then second set for back door, gate, shed, locks, chains, etc etc. When I'm at home, these keys again connect together with a carabiner.
