Key stuck in lock

I replaced all of the euro cylinders when we moved in to our current house myself a few months ago, I took all of the locks out and measured them, then ordered locks with matching dimensions.

The problem I have is one particular lock was the incorrect size (although I didn't realise at the time) I assumed it was correct as I had matched it to the previously fitted one. The screw that held the lock into the door was not the correct screw either, more like a wood screw than a machine screw which I replaced when I fitted the new lock.
The lock itself sits about 5mm inside the handle on the inside and protrudes about 15mm on the outside. It has been fitted around 2/3 months and whilst it has been a bit finicky at times it has always locked so I didn't worry too much about it.

Last week or so I have been able to open the door after locking it, I then figured out if I turn the key as far as it will go then back to the position to remove the key from the lock the door remains locked. Again didn't think to much of it as it was doing its job

So tonight gone too lock the door from the outside and it has locked the door but the key won't return to the correct position so that I can remove it, I have tried a spare key on the inside but that won't turn either.

The lock itself is a yale superior euro cylinder.

What are my options now short of calling a lock Smith?

guess you've tried pushing key in gently as you try and turn,
also if it is a dead lock one where you lift handle before key turn re-lifting handle and letting it come back to horizontal without rotating handle further to check it's locked;
I have a cylinder where pawl inside lock that cylinder engages with, is worn, and key can sometimes rotate without locking door where above helps.

I have a lock that does this. It takes about 15mins of jiggling to free it. Persevere is my advice.

It has turned without locking in the past so it could be the pawl then. What is it and how would I go about replacing it?

blimey if your having problems after a few months it doesnt sound good for the quality.
i changed mine about 6 months ago for similar units also yale......the rear 2 are keyed alike and fit spot on although can be finniky when putting the key in (put down to being new) the front door i made the mistake of ordering one slightly too small , it like yours sits inside by a few mms, but it works fine.
maybe see if yale have warranty for it?

I think something in the door is worn. The lock itself seems fine. Until I have had a chance to take the door apart I won't knew for sure though.

I bought a highly regarded brand lock last year from the manufacturer last year and it was so out of spec it wouldn't even go into the door.

I'm guessing it had been assembled from left over parts due to supply shortage. Even the screw-heads on the lock itself were buggered.

I have had that brand of lock in the past in that door so they do generally work, it was just a terrible example.

I've had the same problem in the past with Yale cylinders. I had the cylinder replaced twice under warranty and then binned it the next time it packed up. I've since switched to Ultion cylinders and had zero problems.

I got mine from a local locksmith. It was probably about 5 years ago so I can't remember the price.

Initially I bought a cylinder for the front door but have since bought cylinders for the French doors, bifold doors and a padlock for the shed. They're all keyed alike.
