Keyboard and mouse

Hi all,

My son has asked for a keyboard and mouse for Christmas. He is a huge minecraft fan and would like a backlit keyboard and a wireless mouse. Any suggestions? It will be his main present so could be expensive for the right ones...

Check Razer and Roccat range of gaming keyboards/mice at OUk store.
And mechanical keyboards, some are backlit as well.
How much are you planning to spend?

I suppose £150-200 for both wouldn't be out of the question, possibly a bit more. But they need to be the right ones, and to last

I have a Razer keyboard it's great. And I use a Microsoft intelli for a mouse

Thanks everyone. What key colour should I be looking at? At the moment he just has a basic £10 keyboard, as I said it is mainly for minecraft, however he is expected to type his homework etc on it.

should check out the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 Elite and the razer death adder i own both and would recommend them to anyone

Not sure about the mouse cause I use a wired one but on the subject of a keyboard, I'm currently using the Logitech G105. It's backlit, awesome and it's £55

At the weekend I took him to a well known box shifter who used to have purple shirts to try out different keyboards. However they no longer have any gaming keyboards on display, nor will they open a box. So apart from a keyboard that had the cursor keys available to use while still in the box it was a waste of time, which confirmed that he doesn't want clicking keys.

Has anyone got any more thoughts on mice?

I'd recommend a Corsair K70 mechanical keyboard (will last for years and years) and a Steelseries Sensei mouse. Total for them both is around £170.

Alternatively a cheaper option would be a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard and a Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0. Total for that would be around £50.

Thanks for Wilkeh, out of interest is there any advantage for something like the Ducky DK-9008 Shine 3 or are the 'extras' that you get just gimmicks?

The Corsair K70 or even a K95 if you want "extras". They are solid and look great.

Wireless mouse. I have tried a lot recently and as always it comes down to comfort. I currently have a Logitech G700s, a Logitech G602 and a Razer Ouroboros on my desk. Both Logitech's are fantastic but in my honest opinion the Razer does not come close at all. I am actually very disappointed in the Ouroboros.
