Keyboard Conundrum!

Hey guys,

As you can imagine I've read a **** tonne of reviews for a whole host of keyboards and I don't seem any closer to a decision.

I have a few keyboards in mind but I just don't know which to go for.

The first is a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate.
I really like the look of this and pretty much would have bought it without hesitation but there are plenty of reviews on line documenting keys sticking, it seems a fairly common fault. Hence my dubiousness. This along with your warranty being void if you remove a key is more than a little off putting.

Second is a Corsair K90.
Another one I really like apart from the macro keys! There is no way of removing them obviously so Its something I'd have to get used to. I wouldn't mind if it was just a row or two and they were mechanical but it's also the mix of key types that puts me off a little.

Lastly there is one of the Logitech keyboards (G110 or G510)
I don't mind the look of either of these but I'm not sure how much use I would get out of the screen on the G510. Which brings it down to the fact that neither of them are mechanical.

I'm looking for a decent keyboard for gaming and occasionally other typing work, with a blue back light and a good reliability record!

Thanks in advance! :D

I too am just about to buy a new keyboard, expect I know what I am going for and its the Logitech G19. At the moment I have a G15 V1, and It has everything I need as a gamer, the blue backlight and the screen at the top, for me its great, especially when you are gaming as you can still see live feeds and the clock is a lifesaver when it comes to not being late for work.

I use a mechanical keyboard at work and its practical for that environment. I feel I would be disappointed if I had one at home.

The X6 is meant to be one hell of a good keyboard. I went for the Cyborg V7, happy that I did, its a great keyboard, but the X6 is on a different level!

Just had a quick look at the X6 and it looks ok apart from the Red Backlight, there are also quite a few negative comments regarding ghosting so I'm not being sold on it! :s

How about a Qpad Mk-50/80? Good for typing due to their mechanical keys, the MK-80 being the one with backlight!, and neither have silly extra macro keys!!

Corsair K90 gets my vote

Not commenting on Logitech as I don't know anything about them.

But sadly over the last 2-3 years the build quality of razor products has plummeted.

yh i rly would like the k90 was hopin it would be put under the round 7 of deals today with keyboard and mice

Of the 3, the K90 is the better keyboard. The Razer doesnt use a very good anti ghosting technique, it optimises only for WASD and ESDF, so other keys are limited to 2 simultaneous key pushes, which most gamers do more than. This will mean some lag on the input. Logitech know how to make a long lasting keyboard, plus they have good features, the screen is a little gimmicky, but i used mine all the time with VOIP apps. The K90 is annoying in many respect, all the macro keys and the top row of keys in the main group are membrane, not mechanical, a shocking decision by Corsair. If you buy this keyboard for the mechanical keys, then get non mech keys, it might annoy you, you may find it ok. But if you dont mind non mechanical keys, then the Logitech is a lot cheaper.

i've never used mechanical keys before. wats the cyborg v7 like?

T'is a shame about the Razer products quality decline, I remember getting a Diamondback mouse years ago an loving it!
As soon as I heard about the sticking keys on the keyboard I was a bit disappointed!

I can see this being one of the last decisions I make, the K90 has edged out in front now though.

i still dont see how a 20 pound keyboard is worse than a 50+ one... i have akeyboard for 20 pounds with blue or red backlights with a dimmer, and the usual hotkeys for itunes, internet, etc...

Why are some keybaords stupidly expensive yet do nothing different or atleast nothing that would make any noticable difference.

I can imagine it makes a difference to real professionals but no-one casual who doesnt get paid or enter prized gaming comps with a real chance.

the difference to me seems like the difference between a runner shaving his body or not... basically unoticable unless u count milli seconds lol

The X4 is rated better than the x6. I have the x4 and for the price it is great. Red backlight, anti ghosting, macro keys etc

Features wise I would expect this keyboard to be more expensive than they price it at to be honest.
