keyboard error or no keyboard present

whys it saying this? it was all ok n working then I turned it on and it said this. Ive tried 2 diff keybords but both the same problem. I tried a ps2 to usb converter but it did the same thing...the 3 lights on the keybord come on as soon as I plug it to a usb port but then go straight of a second later. they don't come on at all plugging into the ps2 port. the usb ports do work so I don't know what the problem is..

any ideas?
 
does the bios show usb keyboard support as enabled or doesnt it even allow you to get into bios ?

would be helpful if you could list the rest of you're system spec as well.
 
as mp260767 says, you need to get in the bios and enable usb support - what have you tried when trying to get into bios? Right after the system posts (the first beep), press the DEL key and run your finger down the function keys a few times and hopefuly the bios should appear.
 
Reset the CMOS... by moving the jumper or taking out the battery itself for a minute or 2
 
is it worth buying a cheap ps2 keyboard to try? if this ps2 convertor dosent work tho a new keyboard aint gonna either is it?
