Mrs S used to play piano in her earlier years (made it up to G8) and has recently expressed an interest in getting back into music playing.

Now, am not quite at the level of getting her the Steinway she wants  but have been thinking of getting a midi keyboard to clag into either her laptop or my computer and was looking for some advice on which to get, along with any software and other accessories that will be needed.

Total budget is £300-400

Cheers

There are good electronic keyboards out there, but they're generally pretty pricey to get any sense of the sound or response of a normal piano. If she's any good (as you say she is) then she'd definitely appreciate that. You might be best off taking her to a shop and seeing what she likes the feel of, whether it be an upright or a nice keyboard.

Personally I couldnt play on a cheap midi keyboard, cant stand the things.

Just make sure you get a keyboard controller thats fully or semi weighted if she's used to plinking proper piana'. I think M-Audio do a line the Keystation, which are semi and fully weighted depending on model. There's an 88 key variant. And not too much cash.
